DeFuniak Springs, Florida, is a small city with a population of approximately 6,000 residents. It is located in Walton County in the Florida Panhandle. Major roads and highways include U.S. Route 90 and Interstate 10, which provide easy access to nearby cities and regions. The city is known for its historic Victorian architecture and the perfectly round Lake DeFuniak, one of only two such lakes in the world. DeFuniak Springs was founded in the late 19th century as a resort community and educational center, originally serving as the winter headquarters for the Chautauqua Assembly. The city retains much of its historic charm, with numerous buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
